Bridge construction over the Lower Falls, Spokane, Washington. Soon after completion of the concrete Monroe Street Bridge in 1910, this Union Pacific railway bridge was erected, spanning both the Falls and the Monroe bridge. The alignment routed trains between the Washington Water Power (now Avista) Post Street Substation, seen at right beyond, and the building now housing City Hall. The former right-of-way is now used as a staff parking lot. (Image courtesy Eastern Washington State Historical Society)
