Image title “Birdseye View of the City, showing Lower Falls, Monroe Str. Bridge and Court House, Spokane, Wash.” This colorized postcard view, looking north across the second (steel) Monroe Street Bridge also shows Washington Water Power’s first dam at the Falls, and the extensive backfill process underway on the south bank of the river. The Spokane’s downtown library is built atop this fill today. The natural grade of the northern shoreline is also still visible left of the bridge deck.
