Each year, Friends of the Falls sponsors a river gorge cleanup event. Last year’s event attracted more than six hundred volunteers that gathered over four tons of trash, and recycled over 1,500 pounds of the trash collected. In 2005, US Senator Maria Cantwell made an appearance, shown here. The cleanup helps in other ways, too - each year, the amount of trash collected in the Gorge drops, proving that as folks get involved, community care and appreciation for the area grows, too!
